Efes Long Flat Turkish Bread

Slice fresh bread length ways and serve with with dips i.e. Hummus, Cacik (Tatiziki), Capsicum Dip (dip recipes below)etc. Or simply just serve sliced bread with a small dipping bowl of Balsamic Vineger and a small dipping bowl of Olive oil.

The Sliced Turkish Bread is a hit with any entertaining you do.  At our place we serve it with dips and plates full of antipasto delights!!

Obviously here at Efes Bakery we have two wonderful pizza bases, one being our Wood fired Pizza (recipe below) and we also have a Original Pizza Base (again recipe below).  However we have also used our Long Flat Turkish Breads as Pizza Bases before, its great you can get a real rustic, thick and crusty homemade style pizza at home. Crusty thick pizzas, like they were made many years ago.  Simply just follow the same rules as making a normal pizza, sauce, topping and cheese and put in hot oven for 4 mins or until cheese melted.

If Turkish bread is a day old or out of freezer, defrost and slightly heat in oven for 5 mins and then slice.

Efes Woodfired Bocconcini Spinach Pizza

Simply preheat oven to 250°C, Top woodfired base with pizza sauce, thinly sliced red onion, sliced bocconcini cheese, sliced cherry tomatoes and black sliced olives then bake in hot oven until cheese has melted.

Once pizza is cooked sprinkle fresh sliced Baby spinach coarsely over the top, this gives a beautiful colour and fresh taste.

In just 4 minutes you will have restaurant style Woodfired Pizza’s.

5 minute Quick & Easy Hummus

1 Can 420g Chick peas
2 Whole lemons juiced
2 gloves of garlic crushed
1/3 cup tahini
1/3 cup thickpotset yoghurt
Pinch of salt and pepper

Simply add all the above ingredients into a food processor for a few minutes until mixture smooth.

Place Hummus in bowl and garnish with fresh mint or fresh parsley.


5 minute Quick & Easy Cacik (Tatziki Dip)

500g Thick Potset Yoghurt (thick and creamy yoghurt holds dip well together).
1 large cucumber, peeled, seeds removed and grated
2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
20 mint leaves, finely chopped (set aside a small amount of chopped mint leaves for garnish)

Simply just add al the above ingredients into a bowl and mix gently with a wooden spoon , until ingredients well combined.

Place Cacik (Tatziki Dip) in bowl and garnish with fresh Mint.

Efes Turkish Baby Roll Toastie

Serving suggestions:

The Efes baby turkish rolls are ideal for gourmet sandwiches!! Enjoy your own Cafe style sandwiches in no time!

When you have fresh Turkish Baby rolls you can fill with your favourite fillings and eat fresh.

Day old or even frozen defrosted Turkish Baby rolls are again best toasted so try:

Slice Baby turkish roll in half and fill with Mayo, Cooked BBQ chicken, Swiss Cheese, Avocado, Sundried Tomatoes and then toast in sandwich press until cheese melted.

Efes favourite filling is roasted pumpkin, sundried tomato, feta cheese, fresh baby spinach and then toast!

Efes Original Pizza Base

Top base with pizza sauce, mushroom, capsicum, cooked onion, pepperoni and mozzerella cheese, then bake in hot oven until cheese has melted.

Our favourite pizza topping (as in in picture to the left) is pizza sauce, crumbled feta cheese, cherry tomatoes halved and when cooked sprinkle roughly chopped fresh rocket over the top of the pizza.

TIP: Brush pizza base with olive oil, add fresh grated garlic, herbs and then bake in hot oven until pizza is crisp and light brown.  Cut into triangles and serve as garlic bread!  With ofcourse even our Cacik Dip (as above)!

Our Efes Original Pizza bases when topped take about 15-20 minutes to cook.

Efes Pita Wrap

Efes Pita wraps can be eaten fresh or even toasted.  In fresh wraps try mayo, shredded BBQ Roasted Chicken, grated carrot, avocado and lettuce. Then simply roll and enjoy your healthy lunch!  If you like your pita wraps toasted again just add mayo or relish, cheese, roast beef, grated carrot, the wrap and toast  in cafe style sandwich press for a few minutes. 

Our list for our Efes Pita Wraps is endless!

1.Authentic Turkish Kebabs.  Lay Pita flat in cafe style sandwich press for 60 seconds until heated, take off press and add garlic sauce, lettuce, sliced tomato, grated cheese and left over diced cooked lamb.  Wrap and your done, Make your own healthy style kebabs at home with any left over cooked meat!

2. Use your Pita Wraps at your next BBQ, simply heat wraps on BBQ and serve with cooked meat and salads.

3. Try toasting pita wraps in cafe style sandwich press or even use your fry pan (toast pita either side) and then slicing into thin triangles to serve with favourite dips. 

4. Next time try a healthy alternative to Nachos, Our Efes Pita Chips can be pre made and stored in a air tight container.  Pre heat oven to 160oC, Simply cut Pita wraps into triangles and lay then on baking paper on a tray.  Leave in the oven for approximately 5 to 8 minutes , you only want to dry out the pita chips.  Once pita chips are hard and dried out and crunchy chips , leave to cool down.  Pita Chips can then be used to make up your Nachos any time, Pre heat oven to 180oC and just simply placing Pita Chips in a deep baking bowl and add already heated nachos salsa all over the top, then top with grated cheese and just heat Nachos up for only 5 mins. Then after Serve with a big dollop of sourcream garnished with sliced spring onions!

Quick & Easy "Gozleme"

Gozleme's are the new thing in town, being delicious, fresh, and also low in fat! They have been an authentic meal for years in Turkey. Gozleme is a savoury traditional Turkish handmade pastry filled with various fillings, then cooked over a griddle. Efe's have found a way to bring this age old method to you at home!! We have taken the hard work out and present you with a Gozleme base ready for you to fill with your favourite fillings.

TIP: You can use our Efes Pita Bread as a substitute too!


Spinach and Feta Gozleme

2 Cups of finely chopped spinach

1/2 cup chopped fresh mint leaves

1/2 cup chopped parsley

1/2 cup chopped spring onion

1 cup of grated feta cheese

1 tsp white pepper

1/2 tsp salt

Mix all the above fresh ingredients in a bowl.  Lay your Gozleme wrap or Pita wrap down and only top half of the mixture onto it as close as 1cm from the edge.  Then fold the top over to close it and then place in a cafe style press until cheese melted.  Slice Gozleme up into two or three portions and serve with a slice of lemon!


Mince Meat Gozleme

1/2 kilo lean minced lamb or beef

2 Gloves of minced garlic

1/2 tsp ground cummin

1/2 tsp paprika

1/2 diced brown onion

1/2 tsp Salt and Pepper

*1 cup grated feta cheese (add later)

Sautee onions, garlic and mince meat, in fry pan, until cooked. Add cummin, paprika, salt and pepper.  Allow mixture to cool and then add grated feta.

Then as above lay Gozleme/Pita wrap down and fill one side with mixture, fold it over (sealing it) and then put in sandwich press to finally heat and cook it off! 

Slice and serve with a slice of lemon!
